The city is located in the northwest of Yucatan. The Uxmal archaeological complex was founded in the VI century. It was rebuilt several times and by the IX-XI centuries, it became one of the most prosperous on the peninsula. However, over time, it turned out to be abandoned.
Currently, the complex is included in the list of the most visited attractions of the state. Light and musical performances are held on the territory every evening at 19: 00 in winter and at 20: 00 in summer. Uxmal is open from 8 am to 5 pm.
